We investigated the long-term metabolic benefits of diabetes camps for middle-aged and elderly people with type 2 diabetes mellitus, especially in terms of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) variability. The levels of HbA1c during the first year after diabetes camp were comparable to those of matched controls who received conventional diabetes education. However, the 1-year mean and standard deviation (SD) of HbA1c decreased after diabetes camp, with significant reductions in adjusted SD and coefficient of variation (CV) in those with higher baseline HbA1c and a shorter duration of diabetes
 
Regulating Hypothalamus Gene Expression in Food Intake: Dietary Composition or Calorie Density? Diabetes Metab J. 2017 Apr;41(2):121-127.
 
The proportion of saturated fatty acids/unsaturated fatty acids in diet seems to act as a physiological regulator of obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes. Diet composed of different fatty acid differ in the method of inducing satiety in the hypothalamus. The type of fat was associated with changes in gene expressions in hypothalamus when purified fatty acid administration directly into the stomach. In the case of meal feeding for overnight, proopiomelanocortin (POMC) and neuropeptide Y (NPY) gene expressions were altered by the amount of ingested calorie rather than changes in fat composition of the diet. Although, the type of fat �� an important factor which regulates hypothalamic gene �� should be considered, the calorie density of diet may be more critical in regulating hypothalamic genes.
 
Addition of Ipragliflozin to Metformin Treatment in Korean Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Subgroup Analysis of a Phase 3 Trial. Diabetes Metab J. 2017 Apr;41(2):135-145.
 
We conducted a subgroup analysis of a phase 3, multicenter, placebo-controlled, double blind, parallel group study, with the objective of examining the efficacy and safety of ipragliflozin in combination with metformin in Korean patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The addition of ipragliflozin to metformin therapy led to a significant improvement in glycemic control (mean 짹 SD, HbA1c: ��0.97% 짹 0.81%; fasting plasma glucose: ��24.9 짹 40.4 mg/dL), reductions in body weight and improvement in lipid profile compared with placebo. Our data demonstrate the efficacy and safety of ipragliflozin in Korean patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus that are inadequately controlled by metformin alone.
