Effectiveness of Exercise Intervention in Reducing Body Weight and Glycosylated Hemoglobin Levels in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Korea: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. Diabetes Metab J. 2019 Jun;43(3):302-318.
 
This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of exercise intervention in reducing body weight and glycosylated hemoglobin level in Korean patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). We searched for randomized controlled trials and controlled clinical trials that compared exercise with non-exercise intervention, identified 7,692 studies through literature search, and selected 23 articles (723 participants). Exercise significantly improves glycemic control (WMD, –0.58%; 95% CI, –0.89 to –0.27; I2=73%). Also, aerobic training showed a significant decline in body weight (WMD: -2.25 kg; 95% CI: -4.36, -0.13; I2=17%). In conclusion, aerobic training might be beneficial for patients with T2DM in Korea.
 
Association of Visit-to-Visit Variability of Blood Pressure with Cardiovascular Disease among Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients: A Cohort Study. Diabetes Metab J. 2019 Jun;43(3):350-367.
 
Increased variability in long-term blood pressure measurement has been found to be associated with adverse cardiovascular outcomes, which was independent of the usual blood pressure level. We conducted a retrospective cohort study to evaluate the association between visit-to-visit variability (VVV) of blood pressure and cardiovascular diseases among 10,163 diabetes patients. Our results showed that higher VVV of systolic blood pressure (SBP) was associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases irrespectively of mean SBP. Sensitivity analysis didn’t alter our findings. No significant association was observed between VVV of diastolic blood pressure and the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Recent studies indicated that R-spondin proteins (RSPOs) play roles as anorexigenic factors to regulate energy homeostasis, and but its role in humans remains unknown. We evaluated the association between RSPO1 and diverse metabolic parameters in humans. Our results showed that serum RSPO1 levels increased to a greater extent in obese group than in lean group. In addition, serum levels of RSPO1 were significantly correlated with a range of metabolic parameters including body mass index, fasting C-peptide, and homeostasis model assessment-insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) index. Moreover, RSPO1 level was significantly associated with insulin resistance and obesity in non-diabetic subjects.
